Pastel Skies Review ✧

Hello! Happy Labor Day! Thanks for joining me this week!

This week I will be reviewing Pastel Skies, an independent brand presently selling exclusively through the website Lolita Desu. Lolita Desu is a favorite secondhand website of mine, I regularly speak highly of them on this blog and in my recent Accessory Haul I actually bought an item from Pastel Skies! Shortly after, Pastel Skies posted on its Facebook that it was looking for sponsored reviewers so I jumped at the opportunity to apply and got selected! ^^ For this review, I was sent two items so I’d like to review those items, as well as the initial item I bought in my previous Haul. I glossed over it in the previous haul post so I think a more in depth one is at hand.

First purchase:

In my haul, I had purchased the Chocolate Cookie Cream Ring in Brown. It was $10 before the discounts. I initially picked out this ring to match with my Angelic Pretty Cream Cookie Parade skirt.

I was looking for cookie/biscuit inspired things for the coordinate so this one definitely stuck out to me! Here are some close-up photos:

The craftsmanship is good with minor complaints, mostly that the cookie is a little crooked but still easily identifiable as a cream cookie sandwich. I wouldn’t say its imperfections are noticeable from a distance. For those more picky about their handmade items, their clay ones might not be what you’re looking for but honestly, since it’s very cute and large (and cheap!) it’s easy for me to overlook.

And it matches my skirt really well!

Sponsored purchase:

For this review, I asked for two items:

Kira Kira Resin Sea Shell Ring in White ($3.00)
Velvet_Square_Ribbon_Bow_Mini_Barrette__50663.1500722071
Velvet Square Ribbon Bow Mini Barrette in Wine ($8.00)

Reasons:

I picked the Velvet Bow because the red color goes well with some of the dresses & accessories I already have. I thought it could be a great addition to a circus coordinate. I have several items that are this shade of Wine and layering is definitely a lolita skill I want to be able to improve upon.

I picked the Sea Shell Ring because I recently pre-ordered Milky Way’s Jelllyfish bag.

Since then, I’ve been trying to think about how I could make an aquatic circus themed coordinate. I thought this ring was a nice neutral color that could work very well.

When I received the package, it was packaged nicely as expected from ordering with Lolita Desu!

Thoughts:

I really like that the Velvet bow has the barrette stitches to it rather than glued. With handmade barrettes I’ve bought in the past, there have been breakage due to glue rather than stitching! It goes well with some of my other wine accessories. It’s pretty small, around the size of an average hair-clip but I think it adds enough necessary decoration.

As for the ring, I ended up liking it much more than I thought I would! In person, there’s a clear layer over a white glittery base that gives the shell ring a lot of depth. The ring base is standard and adjustable. It makes a great compliment to a seashell ring I found thrift shopping at some point. I think they go wonderfully together!

Thanks for joining me this week and thanks to Pastel Skies for letting me write this review! I hope you enjoyed this review. What do you think of my items from Pastel Skies? Considering ordering from there? What would you buy? Let me know in the comments!

See you next week! ^_^
