Winter International Lolita Day 2017

Hello! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday! This past weekend was International Lolita Day! I experienced my first ILD earlier this year when I hosted a swap meet for my comm. ILD is held every year, twice a year on the first Saturday of July and December, so people from all over the world can decide when and how to spend the day celebrating.

For this December’s ILD, I hosted a meet-up to Rochester’s Public Market. The Public Market has been renovated a lot recently and it had been a few months since I had last visited. Thus, I was looking forward to going for this event! The vendors sold many cute vintage Christmas accessories, fresh Christmas trees, decorations, winter clothing, and other interesting items!

There was this cute carousel horse there! I wish I could have bought it!

We had a great turn-out! It was awesome seeing some people I haven’t seen since the recent tea party meet-up. My friend wore a sax dress to match with me! I thought everyone looked so adorable! We found a cute spot to take coordinate pictures, as well as the group picture.

After the group photo, we walked through the area once more, with lots of people stopping us to ask us about our outfits. I generally mention our “fashion club” and it was interesting having so many admirers. Before the event, I was a bit nervous because I hadn’t worn something so brightly pastel before. The positive reception really eased my nerves. We stumbled across a vendor who sold these amazingly fluffy earmuffs! Almost everyone bought a pair (or several) and we took a group photo. xD

Bobby and I did some very light shopping for vegetables from some of the farmers. I got some amazing sugar cookies and kettle corn! For accessories, I got a bow made entirely of metal, an interesting ring, and a pin with a sword. And of course, the earmuffs!

For my coordinate, I wore Angelic Pretty’s Harlequinade for the first time. I really love the pastel colorways of it and recently acquired the sax version. I thought it was a great opportunity to wear my new rosette from Ikemen Mode as well as a few other accessories I haven’t gotten to wear yet.

Overall, I’m very happy with out the meet-up turned out! It’s been 9 months since I’ve started actively building my Lolita wardrobe and I’m having such a great time. Being able to wear a fashion that fits my quirkiness, while also meeting so many awesome people has made the last few months so amazing. I can’t wait for the next ILD!

Thanks for reading! ‘Til next time!
